A Nigerian footballer, Christopher Edoghogho, has d#ed after he sl#mped during a football match in Benin City, Edo State.

Edoghogho, a player with the Angels Football Academy, reportedly coll@psed on the pitch on Thursday, June 2, two minutes into the match against BJ Foundation Football Club in the ongoing Federation Cup.

His teammates blocked the main entrance of the Edo Specialist Hospital, Benin and the busy Sapele Road, to protest the alleged ‘attitude’ of medical personnel.

Speaking to newsmen, one of his teammates, Okiemute Ovie explained that the match was going on smoothly at Edo State School of Health, Dumez Road, when Edoghogho headed the ball and suddenly sl#mped on the field.

Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State, has disclosed those behind the hideous att@ck on St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo area of the state.

Many worshippers were k#lled when unknown g#nmen invaded the church, on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Speaking in a statement, the governor said those carrying out such att@cks are foreigners from Mali trained in Libya.

According to DailyPost, he said, “What happened here is too tr@gic. It is the most tr@gic event. What is happening in America is a child’s play to what has happened here.

To say the least, it is condemnable. I’m grieved. Let me let you know that we have a duty to protect you. Security services also lost about two men. The att@ck was sudden. How they carried out the att@ck and entered the church cannot be explained.

President Muhammadu Buhari has cond@mned the br#tal k#lling of worshippers at the St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Speaking in a statement by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina, the president said only dem@ns from the underworld would have conceived and carried out the att@ck.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has cond#mned the heinous ki#ling of worshippers Sunday at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo Kingdom, in Ondo state.

The president says only fiends from the nether region could have conceived and carried out such a d@stardly act, adding that eternal sorrow awaits them both on earth here, and ultimately in the hereafter.

President Buhari mourns the de@d, condoles with their families, the Catholic Church, and the Government of Ondo State, charging emergency agencies to swing into action, and bring succor to the wounded.
