President Muhammadu Buhari has cond@mned the br#tal k#lling of worshippers at the St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Speaking in a statement by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina, the president said only dem@ns from the underworld would have conceived and carried out the att@ck.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has cond#mned the heinous ki#ling of worshippers Sunday at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo Kingdom, in Ondo state.

The president says only fiends from the nether region could have conceived and carried out such a d@stardly act, adding that eternal sorrow awaits them both on earth here, and ultimately in the hereafter.

President Buhari mourns the de@d, condoles with their families, the Catholic Church, and the Government of Ondo State, charging emergency agencies to swing into action, and bring succor to the wounded.

Rev Father Andrew Abayomi, one of the priests at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo, Ondo State, has narrated how the church was att@cked.

Many worshippers were k#lled when unknown g#nmen invaded the church, on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba, the cleric said the g#nmen invaded the church as the day’s service was about to end.

“We were about to round off service. I had even asked people to start leaving, that was how we started hearing g#nshots from different angles.

We hid inside the church but some people had left when the att@ck happened. We locked ourselves in the church for 20 minutes. When we heard that they had left, we opened the church and rushed victims to the hospital,” he said.
