#1. MTN Uganda Limited
MTN Uganda Ltd. is the richest company and as well the largest telecom company in Uganda, having over 12 million subscribers, which accounts for 55% market share. MTN Uganda began to be established and began operating in 1998 and has grown since then to become the giant telecommunication company in the country.
#2. Nile Breweries Limited
Nile Breweries Ltd. is the next richest company on our list of Top 10 Richest Companies in Uganda. The company is the leading beer manufacturer in the country with a production output of about 2.4 million hectolitres. Aside from beer production, the company also includes water in its line of products.
More so, the company makes use of locally cultivated sorghum as the active ingredient used in their Eagle Lager beer. They explained the reason being that they seek to reduce the country’s dependence on imported raw materials.
#3. Airtel Uganda Limited
Airtel Uganda Limited began operation in the country board on the 8th of June, 2010. And within a little over a decade spent in the country, Airtel Uganda Ltd., has grown to become one of the richest companies in the country coming in at the third spot. Also, it is the second-largest telecommunication company in Uganda with over 8.9 million customers in Uganda.
#4. Uganda Breweries Ltd
Taking the fourth spot is another brewing company and that is Uganda Breweries Ltd., which is the producer of Uganda’s leading premium adult beverage. Also, it is one of the oldest companies in Uganda been established shortly after World War II in 1946. No wonder it is reported that this company produced the first beer in the country.
Interestingly, the company has experienced dramatic growth as it started out producing 650, 000 hectoliters of beer. Production has since then grown to be more than 1.2 hectoliters.
#5. Stanbic Bank
Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited is a commercial bank in Uganda licensed by the Bank of Uganda (the national banking regulator) to carry out its activities legally in the country. The bank is currently one of the top and richest commercial banks in the country.
The company is reported to make more than 200 billion Ugandan shillings in income annually.

#6. Tororo Cement Limited
Tororo Cement Limited is not just one of the largest but the largest “Cement and Steel products” companies in Uganda. Also, to validate the quality of their product, it is awarded ISO Certified Company for the quality management system. The company strives to become one of East Africa’s leading cement manufacturers with an annual production of 3 million metric tonnes.
#7. Century Bottling Company Ltd
Century Bottling Company Ltd is part of the Food Wholesalers Industry in Uganda, appearing at the seventh spot on our list of Top 10 Richest Companies in Uganda. since, 1995, the company has been claimed by Coca-Cola South African Bottling Company (SABCo).
The food and beverage company is the approved bottler and merchant of CocaCola products in Uganda such as Coke, Sprite, Tonic water, just to mention a few among the products sold in the country.
#8. Bujagali Energy Limited
Bujagali Energy Limited claimed by Bujagali Holdings Power Company is a well-known Electricity Generation Company in Uganda that owns and operates a 250MW hydropower plant on the Nile River in Uganda. The power company was commissioned to begin operation in 2012 and it supplies energy to the Ugandan electricity grid.
The company is credited for creating and supplying over 90% of all the power in the country plus, its over 200,000 employments around the nation.
#9. Kakira Sugar Limited
At the ninth spot on our list is Kakira Sugar Works Limited also known as Kakira Sugar Works (KSW) and it is credited for been the main sugar producer in Uganda, and considered to be the third top economy in East Africa. As for production, Kakira Sugar Limited creates more than 165,000 tonnes of sugar annually. This figure represents almost 47% of the sugar supply in Uganda.
The sugar product from this company is likewise sold in other countries such as South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, and Kenya.
#10. Umeme Limited
Umeme Limited is an electric distribution company in Uganda, distributing 97% of all electricity used in the country. The Company operates a 20-year electricity distribution concession; also, it is listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange and cross-listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
